More people than ever have taken to the bicycle in 2020 and Irish cyclists are winning big on the world stage… it’s like the 80’s all over again.
Cycling in Ireland is back and it’s booming.
Sam Bennett has already made a flying start to the 2021 season, winning stages at UAE Tour and Paris-Nice, to build on his rise to cycling superstardom in 2020 which saw him winning on the Champs Élysées with the Tour de France green jersey on his shoulders. Nicolas Roche is back for another season racing at the elite level of the sport in his role as road captain for Team DSM, and a younger generation of riders in Ryan Mullen and National Champion, Ben Healy, are knocking on the door of big breakthroughs.
With new cycle lanes appearing in quick order around Dublin City and the government’s commitment to increased cycling infrastructure, there has never been a better time to get moving on two wheels.
Andrew McQuaid, Founder and MD of Trinity Sports Management, believes that this could be the start of another golden age for Irish cycling; “Sam’s achievements on the road have been truly inspirational to young Irish cyclists, and prove that it’s a sport we can truly succeed at on an elite stage. With the government’s commitment to investing in cycling infrastructure in the coming years and a number of really talented young Irish cyclists excelling at the underage levels of the sport, I am confident there will be much more to celebrate for fans of Irish cycling and sport over the years ahead”.
With all of this momentum behind the sport of cycling in Ireland, Trinity Sports Management are encouraging Irish businesses to ‘Think Cycling’…
Think Sam Bennett in green at the Tour de France.
Think all the great Irish cyclists.
Think Nico Roche, Ryan Mullen, Ben Healy.
Think about sharing the road with top Irish pros.
